Loon is now closed for the winter season.

Stage Is Set

March 2023

While you’re cruising Cruiser, or driving down Main Street, look up and you’ll see the progress on South Peak Expansion. Take a run down Escape Route trail and you’ll get a great perspective of how different this new terrain is. The pitch is gentle, and the width of the trails allows plenty of room for skiers and riders to build confidence.

South Peak's expanded terrain features tree-skiing areas as well as trails. Designated as a mix of Easiest (green circle) and More Difficult (blue square); the addition will increase Loon’s green-level terrain by over 50 percent.

Equipment Arriving

New pipes for the snowmaking system have been delivered and staged. The first shipments from Doppelmayr have arrived and are also staged and ready for the next steps.

Growing Responsibly

For each tree removed from property, more will be planted thanks to One Tree Planted. Loon has made a donation to this organization which is one of the U.S. National Forest’s official reforestation partners. This ensures that more trees are planted than were removed from the site. Some of the lumber was chipped and sent to a local biomass plant to be converted to energy while the rest was sent to local mills.
