Loon Mountain Resort Opens with Over 1,700 Vertical Feet of Skiing

Lincoln, NH (November 22, 2023) Loon Mountain Resort kicked off their 58th winter season with 38 acres of top-to-bottom skiing and riding on Loon Peak, following a fresh snowfall of 5 inches overnight. The White Mountain Express Gondola began loading guests at 9:00AM providing access to 7 trails and 1,738 vertical feet of terrain—the most open in New Hampshire.

Top-to-Bottom Snowmaking

Fully automated and semi-automated snowmaking systems enabled Loon to capitalize during each cold weather window this month. During peak periods, the team at Loon had over 300 snow guns running simultaneously, ensuring top-to-bottom accessibility for Opening Day.

Welcome to Timbertown

Loon will reach a major milestone this winter with the South Peak Expansion project. Eleven new trails and a four-place chairlift will increase the resort’s skiable terrain to over 400 acres, 13 lifts and a vertical drop of 2,190 feet. Servicing the new terrain will be the Timbertown Quad. Conveniently located one-half mile from Main Street and a mile more from Interstate 93, the lift will transport guests 486 feet to access current South Peak trails as well as the new terrain in approximately 6 minutes.
