Infant and Child Carrier Policy
For the safety of our guests and to mitigate collision risks, risks during lift evacuations, and for child and parent safety, Loon Mountain does not allow guests to carry an infant or toddler in backpacks, chest packs, or other similar carrier devices on their bodies while skiing, snowboarding, riding a lift, or participating in uphill travel on resort terrain.
Skiing & Snowboarding
Skiing and snowboarding with an infant or toddler in a carrier present elevated risks in the event of skier-to-skier collision, with significant potential for harm to a child who cannot protect themself. Carrier devices are not designed for the dynamic movements, potential falls and variable terrain conditions inherent to skiing and snowboarding, creating risks for both the child and adult.
Uphill Travel
Child carriers are not allowed for uphill activities such as skinning, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
Mountain Biking
Front-, mid-, or rear-mount child carriers are not allowed on bikes at any time on resort terrain.
Summer Gondola Exception
During summer operations, child carriers and strollers are permitted on the White Mountain Express Gondola for our sightseeing guests.
