Loon Adds New Lift with Little Sass
New conveyor lift improves progression for first-time skiers and snowboarders.
Loon Mountain Resort has opened Little Sass, a new 120-foot conveyor lift designed to make the first-time ski and snowboard experience easier for guests. The lift, which debuted in January, provides beginners with access to gentle terrain and is the latest addition to Loon’s expanding beginner experience.
Located at the base of the green-circle-rated Sarsaparilla trail, Little Sass adds an important first step to Loon’s learning progression. “Little Sass is an awesome next step for guests to build confidence. Starting small and working your way up, is the best way to build your ski or snowboard skills.” said Rob Bevier, Loon’s Vice President of Snowsports.
Guests can advance from Little Sass to the enhanced Sarsaparilla Carpet conveyor lift, which has been upgraded with new high-speed terminals at both the top and bottom. These improvements provide a quicker ride up a longer slope, helping beginners continue to build skills.
The installation of Little Sass is the latest of many recent improvements focused on learning how to ski and snowboard. The largest project being the introduction of the Timbertown Quad 4-person chairlift and more than 30 acres of new beginner and intermediate terrain at South Peak, which opened in December 2022.
Guests can book lessons online in advance, with programs available by age range and ability level—making it easy for beginners to get started. With all three peaks 100% open, Loon offers a wide variety of terrain for families to explore this February.
