Loon Opens Third Chairlift In As Many Years

LINCOLN, NH (December 30, 2023) - Today, a new four-person chairlift opened at Loon Mountain Resort marking the third lift installation in as many years. Located at the South Peak area of the resort, the new Timbertown Quad chairlift provides guests access to 11 new trails as well as existing trails. "This is a historic day." says Brian Norton, President and General Manager at Loon Mountain Resort. "Ten years in the making, this project is a testament to our dedication to growth and innovation, and I can’t wait for our guests to enjoy it."

Four Trails Opening

On opening day, the Timbertown Quad provided skiers and snowboarders access to four of the eleven new trails at South Peak, including Fox Run, Stillwater, Blazer and Jack Pot. Over 60 percent of the new terrain added is green level with the remainder rated More Difficult.

Snowmaking Installation

A combination of fully and semi-automated snowmaking has been installed on the new trails at South Peak, playing a critical role in the opening of the new lift and trails. The technology reduces start-up and shut-down times which allows Loon’s team to maximize periods of cold weather and make more snow.

One-Half Mile from Main Street

Located at the bottom of the existing Escape Route trail and parking lots, the Timbertown Quad is easily accessible. It's convenient location, just one-half mile from Main Street and a mile more from Interstate 93, allows for an easier arrival to the resort. “With a dedicated learning area and it's convenient access, we're making it easier for guests to experience and share the excitement of skiing and snowboarding.” said Norton.

Flight Path: 2030

The opening of the Timbertown Quad and expansion of terrain at South Peak marks another major milestone in Loon’s Flight Path: 2030, a ten-year plan focused on modern innovations across the resort. Launched in 2020, the resort has made significant upgrades at the resort including installing the first 8-person chairlift in the East and adding a downhill mountain bike park.
