Loon Mountain Auctions Chairs from Its Oldest Chairlift to Benefit Local Non-Profits
Own a Chair from One of Loon’s Original Lifts
LINCOLN, N.H., August 13, 2026 — Loon Mountain Resort announced today that the Little Sister Double chairlift, one of the resort’s original three lifts, has been retired from operation. The resort is offering the public a chance to own a piece of that history: individual chairs from the lift will be put up for auction starting August 17.
An Original Lift
Little Sister Double, along with Seven Brothers Double and the Gondola, was part of Loon's founding lift lineup in 1966 and has been the resort's oldest operating chairlift. Manufactured by Hall Ski-Lift Company, the chairlift carried guests 232 vertical feet to access mostly beginner-level ski trails including Lower Bear Claw. The original chairs of the lift were replaced in the early 1990s.
Public Auction Details
Fifteen of the chairs will be available in a sealed bid silent auction. Bidding will open online at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, and close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20. Interested buyers will be able to submit sealed bids during that window, with winners notified after the auction closes.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit two local non-profit organizations: the Upper Pemigewasset Historical Society and Lincoln-Woodstock Friends of Recreation.
