Loon is now closed for the winter season.

MAY 2023Here We Grow Again

More expansion is on the horizon for the 2023 bike season. The team is scheduled to add over 2.5 miles of new trail by the end of summer. The majority of that is black-diamond rated trails, including the completion of King Pin and Slack Action. Additionally Lower Roundhouse is on the build plan as well.

But first, we have to be ready for opening day.

Mountain Bike Trail Crew

Trail Prep

After a winter of hibernation, the trail network is melting out. Trail crews are currently working on Highball, Hotshot, Spur, Mainline, Lowline and more. They’re picking up debris, cleaning drainages and rebuilding berms and jumps so they are dialed in for opening day.

Please stay tuned to the Mountain Report prior to opening weekend for an update on trial status.

Lift Maintenance Kanc 8 Mountain Biking

Kanc 8 Conversion

While teams are on the hill taking care of the trails, Lift Maintenace and Operations are prepping the Kancamagus 8. The chairs are being converted to their summer set up— bubbles are being removed and replaced with the Doppelmayr Bike Clip carriers. Both the loading and unloading platforms are being installed, and off-season maintenance is being completed.

40 New Bikes

Over 40 new bikes are being built in the rental shop and our fleet is being primed for the season. As we add more bikes to the fleet we will be selling some of our used bike. Keep an eye out for more information next week.

In its new ground level location in the Governor Adams Lodge, Loon Mountain Sports is busy stocking shelves with a new line of hats and other bike-inspired apparel.

We look forward to the opening of the bike park on Saturday, May 27. Keep an eye on the Mountain Report for any updates to opening day.
