News & Community Media Center - Loon Mountain Press Releases -Ski and Snowboard Information
November 2009
Dear Friend:
With another winter upon us, I take a moment to look back on last winter…
Ö I was one of the first to ski our first-ever double black diamond, Rip Saw.
Ö I had more than a handful of incredible powder days.
Ö I made my way down all of Bear Claw on a snowboard with all my pieces and parts still intact. (That’s the top of the Gondola, through the Family Ski Zone, across Grand Junction, onto Lower Picked Rock, and down to the Governor’s base area.)
Ö I learned how to use this new thing called a Flip video camera.
Ö I climbed to the top of our 30-ft high Wall Ride to watch an event in our Loon Mountain Park. (Trying to conquer my fear of heights)
Ö I set a personal record hiking to the top of North Peak.
Ö Had my share of sunny afternoons on the deck of the Bunyan Room.
Ö I learned how to “tweet.”
Looking ahead to this winter, I plan to do many of the same things, plus more…
Ö Find some untracked powder in the trees.
Ö Learn to telemark ski (under the guidance of Molly Mahar!)
Ö Bring my snowboarding skills to our Burton Progression Park.
We have plenty of stories to tell here at Loon Mountain. We are happy to share ours with you, or help you find your own. We can share photos, press releases, blogs and more. All of it is found right on our website, www.loonmtn.com.
My office is still a spiral staircase away from the Gondola. So come visit.
Yours in Wicked Fun,
Stacy Lopes
