Coach in Training Program: Ages 14-17 

If you've thought about being a Loon Mountain instructor, this program is for you! Coach in Training (CIT) participants will learn the technical components of skiing and snowboarding, gain firsthand experience of what it’s like to be an instructor, and leadership experience while improving their own skills on the hill!

CIT’s will learn the best way to turn kids into lifelong skiers/riders, how and why kids act like they do, how to motivate students, what to teach using the best terrain for given learning styles and more using PSIA/AASI methods. You’ll learn:

  • How to teach - What to teach  - The best terrain for given learning styles
  • Get firsthand experience what it is like to be an instructor
  • Gain strong leadership experience and learn a lot about the ski and snowboard industry while having fun with other teens!

Program Includes:

  • 40 days of on-snow training; weekends and specific holiday periods
  • Start date is 12/15/12; end date is 3/24/13
  • Holiday periods include: Christmas/New Year's Week (12/22/12 - 12/31/120; Martin Luther King Weekend (1/19 - 1/21/13); and Presidents' Week (2/16 - 2/24/13). Program does not include 12/24 - 12/25/12
  • Sessions are balanced between classroom settings and on-snow activities. Curriculum is based on the methodology/written materials of Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA ). Course material includes: skill development; teaching children; basic anatomy as it relates to snowsports; proper class handling; developmentally-appropriate games and activities; tools to develop a lesson plan; movement analysis

No refunds, except in the case of illness or injury that precludes the individual from participating for the remainder of the season. Must contact the Seasonal Programs manager.
