With over 30 inches of snow in the past week, Loon rolls into March with all terrain wide open, including all the tree areas, five award-winning terrain parks, superpipe and the halfpipe.
There’s plenty of action at New Hampshire’s Loon Mountain during the next six weeks, and the resort plans to offer skiing & riding through April 18.
March 6: The Briefcase Race with Mike Lynch: The first sign of spring skiing is Loon’s annual Briefcase Race. Participants dress in costumes and race through an easy course carrying a soft-sided briefcase. Over the past 16 years, the event has raised over $750,000 for The Breast Centre Research Fund at Boston’s Faulkner Hospital.
March 6/7: Droppin' In Women's Snowboard Camp Presented by Oakley- Droppin' In is for girls and women ages 13 and older. If you know how to link turns and carve it up on the blues, and want to progress to the parks, Droppin' In is for you!
March 13: Kostick Kup- The Kostick Kup is an annual fundraiser for Loon's New England Disabled Sports. www.nedisabledsports.org
March 13/14: Shop Showdown- Come kick it with the LMP Crew at Shop Showdown. Compete in 3 different events and a costume contest.
March 20: 26th Annual Governor’s Cup- Open to the public, this race honors Loon’s founder, Sherman Adams, and proceed helps support local athletes in their quest to compete in snow sports disciplines. Prizes for age categories from 8-80.
March 21: Cardboard Box Race- A Loon classic, the Cardboard Box Race celebrates everything that is fun about spring and skiing.
March 27: Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Finals- Mountain Dew brings its famed racing event to Loon Mountain for the last hurrah of the season. Challenge champions from mountains around New England are invited to participate in the Finals weekend.
March 27-28: The Weekend with 382- Park event for freeskiers only. It’s a unique event that combines both on-mountain talent, plus behind-the-camera-lens and editing talent.
April 3: Slush Pool Party- Grab your beach towel and take a chance making it across the infamous slush pool. Or just watch 75 contestants try. Then, head to the après ski party in the Bunyan Room. Plenty of great entertainment, contests and fun!
April 4: Easter Sunrise Service, Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast- Start off Easter Morning with a sunrise service at the Gondola summit. After the service, guests can ski or ride down or ride the Gondola. A Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held from 7:30 – 9:30 PM, and the Easter Egg Hunt on Lower Bear Claw begins at 9 AM.
April 10: 80’s Day- Do you often wish you were of age to party hard in the 80's? Well come on up on and deck yourself out...fluorescent one-pieces, rear-entry boots, and nappy rock star hair are encouraged. It's kind of like Halloween… except it's in April.
April 18: Hike & Huck- After a one-year hiatus Hike & Huck is back! You've probably noticed that it lands on a different weekend, but that's just because we want to have plenty of snow to make the most stokinest course, ever!!
