LOON MOUNTAIN LAUNCHES NEW PARK EDUCATION AND ETIQUETTE PROGRAM, "PEEPs"

Date:  Tuesday, February 16, 2010

New Hampshire’s Loon Mountain recently launched its new, innovative Park Etiquette and Education Program, known as “PEEPs.” This interactive, web-based program educates skiers and riders about freestyle terrain signage; the intended and proper use of park features; and etiquette, both in the parks and on the hill.

Throughout the program, viewers will learn about the right way to ride our parks through a combination of SmartStyle, ATML Model (Approach, Take-Off, Maneuver, Landing) and Your Responsibility Code elements presented in an entertaining and interactive format that includes audio and video content. Viewers will take several quizzes to make sure they are reading and listening to the content. After successfully completing the program, the viewer will get a voucher to pick up their PEEPs pass. The Pass will get them entered into monthly drawings for prizes provided by PEEPs sponsors Neff, Gnu and grand prize sponsor, Big Sky Resort, Montana.

“We wanted to create a fun way to get skiers and riders involved in our park atmosphere even before they get to Loon,” said Jay Scambio, Terrain Park Development Manager for Boyne Resorts. Our goal for the PEEPs program is for skiers and riders to have the best experience they can in our parks by learning what the signage means so they can select the right park for their ability; the right way to plan, approach and ride our features and how to be a good citizen while enjoying the parks and the Resort. “Right away, we’re setting the tone for the attitudes and behavior we want to see in our parks and at our Resort.”

While a PEEPs Pass is not necessary to enter Loon’s parks, skiers and riders are encouraged through signage and handouts at the Resort and on the Loon Parks web site, to take the initiative and responsibility to view the PEEPs program and understand the Smart Style and Responsibility Codes. Everyone who completes the online program and redeems their voucher will be entered into a monthly drawing for a variety of prizes from Neff & Gnu. One lucky PEEPs pass member will enjoy four nights at Big Sky's Huntley Lodge & four days of skiing/riding on 3,812 acres for themselves and three friends

PEEPs Pass vouchers can be redeemed at the Octagon Snowsports desk, which is located in the Gondola barn, between the hours of 12:00PM and 4:00PM any day of the week.

Knowing the proper way to plan a park ride, along with good park etiquette will always give skiers and riders a better terrain park experience, whether in one of Loon’s five award-winning parks, or wherever they choose to ski or ride. The program can be found at http://www.loonmtn.com/info/rideloon/peeps.aspx.
