LOON MOUNTAIN OFFERS A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES ON AND
OFF THE SNOW FOR A COMPLETE VACATION EXPERIENCE
LINCOLN, NH - Loon Mountain and the Lincoln/Woodstock area offers guests many non-skiing and riding activities this winter including on-mountain tubing, ice skating and indoor rock climbing at the Loon Adventure Center. Plus in town, vacationers can also experience a variety of adventures including snowmobile and zip-line canopy tours from Alpine Adventures, paint-it-yourself pottery at the Creation Station, shopping, dining, and more.
Loon Mountain Adventure Center
Snow tubing is offered on the Little Sister Trail on the Octagon side of Loon Mountain from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekends/holidays. Lift serviced tubing is available for those 8 years old or older and taller than 48", while walk up tubing is offered for younger kids at the dedicated tot tubing area. Tubing sessions are offered daily in one-hour blocks at a rate of $15/hr for lift serviced tubing and $9/hr for tot tubing. Guests can purchase tubing tickets at any snowsports desk or the Little Sister lift ticket window.
In addition to snow tubing, the Adventure Center is also the home for ice skating and the indoor climbing wall. Ice skating is open every day of the winter season, weather permitting, right outside of the Adventure Center. Located inside the Adventure Center, a 25-foot climbing wall is easy enough for beginners and challenging for experienced climbers. The wall offers many different angles, pitches and routes. Harnesses and ropes are provided along with a knowledgeable staff to assist first-time climbers.
Alpine Adventures Outdoor Recreation
Alpine Adventures Outdoor Recreation is located in downtown Lincoln and provides snowmobile and zip-line canopy tours for vacationers who seek the thrill of the outdoors. Snowmobile tours cover up to 30-to-40 miles of scenic terrain through Franconia Notch and visit natural landmarks such as The Basin and Flume. Tours can last up to 3 hours. Prices start at $67 for a single rider.
Zip-line Canopy Tours bring guests to the tallest pine and hemlock trees on the edge of Barron Mountain, located 10 minutes from Lincoln. Platforms have been built high in the trees and zip-lines fly guests from one platform to the next down the mountain. Zip-line tours are offered year-round and cost $85 per person for the two hour high-flying fun. Participants should be at least 10 years old and weigh between 70 - 240 lbs. Creation Station Paint-it-Yourself Pottery
Families can paint pre-made pottery into a unique souvenir and memory at the Creation Station, a paint-it-yourself pottery studio. After a masterpiece has been prepared, the Creation Station glazes and fires the pottery so it is dishwasher safe. Studio fees are $6/hr for adults and $5/hr for kids plus the price of the pottery. Guests can also paint all day on Sundays for only $7 and 2 for 1's are Thursdays from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. For more information call 603-745-8205.
Shopping
A visit to Loon Mountain is not complete without a visit to Lincoln and Woodstock. Lincoln features several small shopping malls and a variety of stores along Main Street, while North Woodstock is a great walk-around shopping town. Antiques, arts, crafts, books, furnishings, clothing, ski, snowboard and XC ski equipment, and jewelry shops are just a few items guests will find.
Dining
Vacationers visiting Loon Mountain this winter have more than 30 dining options in the Lincoln/Woodstock area. The Woodstock Station is a unique restaurant and lounge in a restored train station, Fratello's features seafood, steak and Italian favorites and guests can relax in the fireplace lounge at the Common Man. At the Gypse Café Bar and Grill, guest can enjoy eclectic tastes from around the world, while Chieng Gardens specializes in Szechuan & Hunan. At Loon, Babe's Lounge, the Bunyan Room and the Mountain Club on Loon offer guests a great après scene.
