Kid's Ski & Snowboard Programs

It's never too early to start skiing & snowboarding! Loon's kid's programs provide progressive and caring coaching that will help your child excel on snow while having lots of fun. Learning is optimized with excellent instructor-to-student ratios.

Kids team up with specially-trained coaches to build their skiing and snowboarding skills - both indoors and outside.  Programs are designed for kids who have never skied all the way to all-mountain skiers and snowboarders.

The Children's Center, located next to the Mountainside Rental Shop, is home base for all kid's programs. All camps provide the option of full- or half-day lessons, though half-day lessons may not be available on Saturdays or holidays (including Sunday, February 19, 2017). Lift tickets are included for kids ages 3-6; breaks and snacks are provided and morning half-day and full-day participants receive lunch. Participants in PK Boo and Kinderbear camps should be potty trained.

AGE 3 Skiing and Snowboarding: PK Boo

Children in PK Boo enjoy one hour of on-mountain instruction in the morning, and one hour in the afternoon. Excellent instructor-to-student ratios optimize learning, with a lift ticket and snack breaks provided for students. Full-day and morning half-day participants receive a hot lunch.

AGES 4-6 Skiing and Snowboarding: Kinderbear

Designed for slightly older kids, Kinderbear provides two hours of skiing or snowboarding in the morning, and two hours in the afternoon. Excellent instructor-to-student ratios boost learning, with lift ticket and snacks provided to students. Full-day and morning half-day participants receive a hot lunch.

The Children's Learning Center is located next to Mountainside Rentals at Base Camp. All camps provide the option of full- or half-day lessons, though half-day lessons may not be available on Saturdays or holidays (including Sunday, February 19, 2017). Lessons, lift ticket, breaks and snacks are provided for students. Morning half-day and full-day participants receive lunch.

The Burton Riglet Park is designed for kids ages 3-6 looking to start their on-snow adventure. Beginner skiers and snowboarders are immersed in a creative & playful environment to enhance their experience on snow. Located in the Terrain Garden next to the Children's Center, the Riglet Park uses sculpted terrain based learning features to help kids get acclimated to the feeling of sliding on snow and learning basic skills. This Paul Bunyan-themed playground - complete with wood carvings of forest animals - is the ideal introduction to skiing and snowboarding.

Along with these features, kids' rental snowboards are equipped with a Riglet Reel. This innovative tool attaches to the nose of a compatible Burton snowboard, and allows instructors to pull young riders as they get used to standing sideways. All of these tools, coupled with our Burton Learn to Ride Center teaching techniques, create a dynamic and fun environment for all kids learning to snowboard.
